The word food can be either countable or uncountable. When talking about food generally, it is uncountable. Observe the following examples:
I love food.
Farmers grow food.
Great food makes people happy.
When food is referred to by type, it is countable. For example,
Spaghetti is a food.
The supermarket down the street sells many foods. (Many types of food)
Ice cream is not a healthy food.

Now available!
Just published! My book of games and activities about English articles is now available for all on Amazon. Now that it is complete I don't know what to do with myself. I think I'll do absolutely nothing for a month...it's going to be great!

A new beginning
I like to think of myself as the go to guy for articles. I have studied them extensively over the years, and am amazed at just how complex the rules that govern them are. Please feel free to ask me any questions that relate to a, an, or the and I guarantee a very quick response.
